Once again, John Galliano’s presence at Christian Dior is definitely felt with a magnificent power of combining art with fashion, the new with classics, costumes haute couture inspirations with street’s style. The Spring/Summer 2011 makes no exception and brings fantastic dreamy shapes along with extravagant designs.
If stripes took a small part in fashion shows last season, this season in Spring/Summer 2011, John Galliano takes the trend to extremes and follows the sailor thematic for the entire collection. Of course, Galliano’s mark over Dior is sensed through the haute couture feeling that he puts even in ready-to-wear. Charming and extremely sensual, Christian Dior’s fashion show brings out lovely looks with feminine accents and entertaining make-ups mixed with vintage hairstyles.
Usually the sailor style covers color-combinations between white, red and black or navy blue, yet this time Dior’s collection brings fun pop splashes of shades into typical looks of the nautical style. From green to purple, red hot lips and neon pink eye-shadows, the colors go into the same summer inspired area, but break out of the usual in the same time.
During the fashion show, the trends evolve into different styles, aviator sunglasses brought into nautical, tribal influences in sandals, wild jungle prints in exotic colors, sailor hats and cat-eye frames, cut-out skirts and dresses, flower power prints or details and drastic bangs, wavy natural hairstyles with childish colorful make-ups.
